CREATIVE JUICES (11-Jan-2020)

Creative thoughts come to play for me at odd places and odd times and assume various shapes as new stories formulate in my mind. It was a quick resolve to pen them down on (a) piece(s) of paper for subsequent retrieval. Murphy is my middle-name, the very purpose of scribbling down was defeated as I lost track of the paper pieces. Strangely when I found some of the odd scribbling stashed in cozy corners and pant pockets, they made no sense to me; stitching a story together was next to impossible, an illusion of sorts!

My first creative thoughts crossed my mind in the mornings as I opened my sleepy eyes; only to last until I rolled off my bed. Going through my morning ablutions, I experience a deluge of thoughts as my toothbrush touches my teeth, a divine connection?! Only a notion though that the shining mirror acts as a catalyst to ignite my thought engine, but my evil twin staring at me from inside the mirror smirks as my thoughts fade away just as my frame moves out of its vicinity. My thoughts once again take fantastic twists-and-turns into new stories, except that the seat of power blah…blah - the pen is mightier, but this is no seat for me to scribble any thoughts!

Nevertheless, I am an author of a 200-page book. Characters appeared and dissolved, plots and sub-plots unfolded into its various chapters; received accolades and rave reviews, movie makers have adopted the story-line, film producers have paid me hefty royalty…..well my book has never seen the light! It’s all fictitious; publisher has nothing to touch-and-see in the form of any written pages! Like in the Thomson & Thompson of the Tintin classics, to be precise, the ink in my pen has not warmed a full scape paper. Creative juices are flowing but mostly in non-catchment areas!

Have I put off my grand plans – would procrastination kill creativity? Answer is in the negative as my intent is not to lose time and almost instantaneously, I scribble on a piece of paper. Lack of writing skills? I do not feel that way since I make every attempt to jot down my thoughts to weave stories! Is it not being able to pen them down? Perhaps not the question I need to answer, in today’s virtual world fueled by digital technology my book is virtually ready! Should I curb this instinct so that it can dry up my creative wells? Emphatic no since they bloom once again the next morning! To fathom this phenomenon, it is akin to asking Sherlock Holmes not to solve a new murder mystery!

Am I only a virtual author or should I author in the virtual world? At the end of another long day, as I tossed and turned in my bed, I made a new commitment. I leave it to fate for my real 1st book to see the daylight. While I let my creative juices find its humble beginnings in this short story and my first blog. Do you keep your catchment areas primed to collect your creative juices?!
